STS Logistics has finished the most difficult project of 2009, when in December, on the fundament of the new power unit of Sredneuralskaya state district power station the gas turbine (300 tones) and generator (260 tones) were installed
According to the uniqueness of the entire complex of works organized with the forces of the Moscow, Yekaterinburg, Aktau, Alma-Ata and Perm offices of the unified holding, this project is the main logistic achievement of the company for the year.
Yet in March 2009, to STS Logistics, as to an experienced operator in the sphere of complex transportation performance, the Spanish engineering company «Iberdrola» addressed with the invitation to participate in the tender for the transportation of the gas turbine and generator to Sredneuralskaya state district power station, with subsequent installation on fundaments. A particularity of the project was not only the great weight and dimensions of the freight, but also the fact that the expensive equipment, manufactured by General Electric, was delivered from France half-year ago by one of the foreign transport companies to Verkhnechusovskie Gorodki located on Perm territory, and were left there because of the impossibility to subsequently deliver the freight.
The project fulfillment stated in May 2009. The route section, relatively small for Russia’s dimensions, had to be rearranged. This transportation unified the main transport types: water (freight non-self propelled barge of the Ro-Ro type), motor (special many-axle module platforms) and railway (28-axle railway transporters of articulated type). Besides the transportation itself, 2 parallel railway branches with the total length of more than 400 m were build in Perm, practically from the beginning, for the loading of the turbine and generator. The full survey and repair of the railway section with the length of more than 450 km, including on the main sections of the stations Perm-2 – Shuvakish. On the entire length of the way, the semaphores were replaced; the columns and constructions which could impede the passing of cars with the freight were eliminated. At the order of STS Logistics, 2 special module frames were projected and manufactured for the transportation of the turbine and generator on railway transporters, the berth was reconstructed on Chusovaya river and a new berth with platform was fully built for the transshipment of the freight on Kama river in Perm. The oversize demanded the projecting and manufacture of powerful loading units. For the first time in Russia, for the loading of oversize turbine and generator on railway transporters two 250-tones railway lifting cranes were used in pair. The railway transportation became unique and hand no analogues in Russia. For it, two 28-axle transporters of articulated type were used at the same time.
Of course the movement of such freight demanded an entire complex of measures for the coordination of train movement, water and motor transport movement. For these purposes, the direction of Sverdlovskaya railway drawn up a special schedule, taking into consideration the passing of the passenger and freight trains.
The last stage of the project became the installation of the turbine and generators on the fundaments in the power unit premises. For the fulfillment of this task, a power mobile gantry system was used with the capacity of 1000 tines, which ensured the successful completion of the unique project.
